CCSSE Season Closed with Success

OFIE successfully coordinated with 27 faculty and staff in the administration of the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE). We record showed that 69 classes participated in the survey, almost 20% higher and 11 classes more participation than in the 2010 CCSSE administration. A total of 1090 completed surveys were returned to CCSSE. Our cordial thanks to all faculty and staff who assisted with CCSSE administration and to all the faculty who generously assisted CCSSE administration in their classes. The list of all the faculty whose classes participated in CCSSE will be published on our CCSSE page shortly.

Kudos: KCC Culinary Arts Awarded Top Award of Excellence

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- On May 11, 2012, Kapiolani Community College's Culinary Arts Department received the Top Award of Excellence from the Hawaii Book Publishers Association's Ka Palapala Pookela Awards in the Cookbook category.

The judges praised the A Sweet Dash of Aloha for its departure from the norm in Island cookbooks, saying, “So many locally published cookbooks are mishmash collections of ‘local food’ recipes. A Sweet Dash of Aloha is a refreshing well-focused, well-written cookbook that offers a new angle on local flavors and ingredients, combining simplicity and clarity with a sophisticated understanding of food, nutrition and health.”

OFIE would like to give special recognition for Daniel Leung and the Health & Wellness Coordinator for their contributions to this award winning project.  They truly exemplify KCC's motto to strive for the highest.

Please contact the KCC Culinary Arts Department for a copy of its award winning A Sweet Dash of Aloha: Guilt-Free Hawai‘i Desserts & Snacks.

Change in policy: post-award transactions

Effective March 2012, the Office of Research Services is requiring most post-award transactions to be submitted via myGRANT.  Changes to the following will require a 'proposal' be submitted to ORS with proposal documents and instructions for how to submit the approved materials to the sponsor:  principal investigator, budget, scope of work, key personnel effort, department of PI, de-obligations, allocation of indirect costs, conflict of interest disclosure, performance site.

Finally, requests for no-cost extensions do not require creation of a myGRANT record. Please send the original and one copy of the formal request letter to your designated ORS pre-award specialist with transmittal instructions. When ORS receives approval from the funding agency, a copy of the award notice will be forwarded to the PI and fiscal officer (FO) via myGRANT.
